Hosting Website On Windows WAMP:


WAMP stands for Windows, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. When you get started with hosting a website with your own server at home, you must need to download WAMP that installs three different things. It is convenient as they allow you to download all the packages needed for hosting dynamics web content. If you don’t download WAMP you need to download all the three packages separately which not only takes more time but also makes the work more complicated.

Windows: This W in the WAMP specifies that the program is only compatible with Windows operating system. If you use Linux, then you must consider LAMP.

Apache: This program will host your site all alone, you can simply host HTML files and various static web content easily.

MySQL: This the main program responsible for providing a database for your web content.

PHP: This is an essential companion if you planned to host anything more than static web pages.


Installing WAMP:


You need to simply install the WampServer latest version in your computer. Download it, and then continue with the installation process. This is the crucial step to host a website with your own web server. Keep everything to its default value and keep clicking next. Remember whenever you use to look on your website, WampServer will use your default browser.

Security exemption should be added for Apache in windows firewall. If you see a quick information page after the installation than you’ve successfully installed WAMP.


Further Configurations:


Open the www directory by left-clicking on the WAMP icon to change the pages that your web server displays. The folder that opens is where you will need to put the file of your website you had like to host. Click refresh to see the changes on the website. After the successful test of your site, you need to click on the WAMP server icon and then click on Put online, to make it accessible for everyone.

Remember to change the two-line code in the Apache configurations to make your site accessible for other devices. This is how you can easily host a website on your own server.
