Ingredients:

  • Two tablespoons of butter (unsalted)

  • Two tablespoons of turbinado sugar

  • Two tablespoons of granulated sugar

  • One tablespoon of applesauce (unsweetened)

  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon of baking soda

  • Four tablespoons of white whole-wheat flour

  • 1/3 tablespoon of kosher salt

  • Three tablespoons dark chocolate chips

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Take a baking sheet and line a parchment paper on it. You can also use a nonstick silicone baking mat.

  • Now take a small bowl. Now add butter, granulated sugar, and turbinado sugar to the bowl. Make sure you use room temperature butter. Do not use frozen or melted butter since it will not give you the appropriate texture.

  • Mix these ingredients using a rubber spatula.

  • Now add vanilla extract and applesauce to the bowl and mix again.

  • Now add the whole-wheat flour, salt and combine them.

  • Lastly, add the chocolate chips and mix.

  • Make sure you do not add all ingredients at once. The items will not combine if you mix them at once.

  • Your cookie dough is ready.

  • Take a spoon and scoop out some dough. Make sure you only scoop one tablespoon of dough for one cookie.

  • Place it on a baking sheet. Repeat the process until you don’t have any dough left. Make sure you place the cookies two inches apart from each other.

  • Place the baking sheet into the oven, and bake the cookies for about 8 to 10 minutes.

  • After 10 minutes, take out the tray. Let the cookies cool down for about five minutes.
